2 d8b's boards and Power Supplys

Postby geddydawg » Tue Mar 10, 2015 2:17 pm

Good Morning!
Ive had a D8B for some time, and slowly Ive seen the unit go thru some issues, sliders stop working, freezing, needing to reboot to get use again, a bunch of different things happening. The current unit is a d8b with 5.1 and the power supply with a 300 mhz.
Because of the issue with the current d8b board, Ive looked around and found another d8b board and power supply, and had it sent here. Its also got 5.1, but a 160 mhz chip, so I wanted to continue to use the 300 power supply that I have currently, as another piece of software was also purchased and installed in the 300.

When connecting it all up, the 300 power supply to the "160" board, I get a msg that states the license isnt valid for this config.

Is there a way to get the newer board to see the license? Also on the 300mhz setup, I have also purchased mastering software, that Id like to use too.

Any way to get the mastering software and licensing off the 300 and onto the 160? Or is there a way to get the 5.1 licensing of the 300 to see the "160" board without the 160 powersupply connected.

Brain board (h/w) or keyfile swap (s/w)... and you should be Golden...

Sounds promising! How complicated is it to do the Keyfile swap?

Swapping the 300hz and 160hz processor chip might be easier than swapping brainboards and hard drives.

Will this work?

Yeppers... essentially you'd require network access to the CPU(s) via FTP (Passive Mode!)... then follow the steps in the instructions above to copy the files. The file operation you're accomplishing here is to basically swap the files on the two CPU's, so keep that in mind... that keyfile contains the unlock code used in validating the brain board's code from the console - so the hard disk HAS to 'follow' the brain board as it were. That's why I originally posted my reply indicating either a hardware or software swap... hope this helps...

You knew it was coming, so here it is :
