My point is not so long ago we were told by Tyler he had mapped out the whole board and it worked great.

So at what point in all this did Behringer controllers become a better option? They are just motorised MIDI controllers (and very noisy ones at that from the Youtube videos I have seen).

Personally I have no argument over it either way, but maybe Tyler needs to read up more before jumping in and buying products that do not suit him – or spend longer working with his gear to make it do what he wants. But think carefully whether the Behringers will be any better.

I looked at a lot of other alternatives to a D8B and for the money and desk real estate it offered the best value (secondhand of course) even when compared to MCUs or Euphonix Artist (which in my opinion has very fiddly buttons). Plus for me the extra analogue I/O is handy for all my old school outboard.

I crave real knobs, faders and buttons and the D8B has loads. Just a shame you cannot emulate 3 HUIs due to only one MIDI port (why they never utilised all 24 faders as a HUI plus two extenders I cannot fathom).

Behringer's new desk is all very interesting but I cannot see much added since their DDX3216 other than a larger screen and 8 return/group faders. No mention of MIDI control. The only other contender for me was a Tascam DM-4800. I conidered a Sony RMX-100 but its automation was flaky.

Maybe Marc G is going to find this "force" and see the thing through... it that case I say he gets a rocket propulsion all the way to Yoda status... all in favor?!!

There are a lot of unanswered questions about the d8b, measurably an exceptional desk for the time and even now. I really don't get at this point why it isn't open-ended. I think that maybe the paper got lost and nobody remembers... :|

Yeah, I agree about Behringer. I have the first Composer and it is built like a tank and does all it says. That was a long time ago and the stuff I've seen from them lately is flimsy and short term looking. However, whatever floats one's boat. The knowledgebase here is large and I think the d8b has a ways to go in terms of service, much to Mackie's chagrin.

Except for the fact that Tyler appears to be more verse in the new game, he reminds me a little of myself. No one has to "prove" anything around here or anywhere really.

I know Anyhorizon is a complete straight shooter (and not just in the old days! ) and really my opinion, not that anyone gives a hoot, but it is this... talk is cheap show me some action. Just saying... :|

All my best,
Michael

It's hard to know what angle you're coming from there Michael. In one breath you say "no-one has to prove anything" and in another you say "talk is cheap, show me some action". Dunno. :?: Maybe I misunderstood.

So I guess from what everyone has said the bcf's are junk?... what about the bcr's or mackies version would it be a good extension off of the d8b? I just need for control because with the d8b it doesnt have that many encoders... I use aux 1 on channel 25-32 for "selected Track Eq Frequency, aux 2 on channel 25-32 for "selected track eq Gain, and aux 3 on channel 25-32 for "selected track eq Q. I just feel im always flipping threw layers. Any Suggestions?

Tyler, I am sure you meant to write through (not threw) layers --- after I throw something I threw it... Just like a Wok is what you throw at a Wabbit... You don't cook with it...

But to Anyhorizon I answer you this, I live in a pissing pool, quite silly really, it is like the "alpha dog has gone mad". It doesn't do anything for anyone really when someone is one upping the other guy on a verbal basis, not really showing any action except his words, to this I say "No one has to "prove" anything around here or anywhere really". Whenever someone in a work environment is fluffing their feathers it generally is because I know what I am doing and the other wants to "prove" he knows by his words --- my experience shows through and I don't need any words to show I know what I am doing, I just do it. People that talk about how much they know usually don't know so much. Here on the forums, all we have is words, so it is much more confusing so I would say the truth is simply the truth. So this is where action comes in. For me, the action is the proof of words. Hope this clears this up for you. Looking back on how I worded the post it certainly was a contradiction.

Tyler if plugin control is your thing, consider the Novation Zero SL MKII http://novationmusic.com/uk/products/midi_controllers/zero_sl_mk_ii as it has focus on it which means when mapped it automatically shows the controls and labels for the selected plugin. Also it has a lot of built-in presets for Logic plugins. Its really easy to Map as you just select from available controls for each button/encoder in the AutoMap software it comes with. Look at their videos for a demo.

Its much cheaper than getting an MCU if thats what you need. I use mine with my D8B and have it on an articulated laptop stand so I can swing it in when I want to use it.

The Behringers are okay, but from what I have read they are noisy and there is no visual feedback.

Sometimes Michael, I feel I need access to the High C Double G dictionary/thesaurus/encyclopedia in order to decipher the completion backwards principle (with apologies to The Tubes).

Hi Peter,

Yes I am confusing... sorry. it looked like from the way I posted, that I was defending Tyler that "he didn't need to prove anything" and under your name I said "show me action". I screwed up in this fact that any of it was not meant to be specific to any one individual.

Nobody "needs" to prove anything, but if they are pissing about and at the end of the day there aren't any results, it basically is a waste of my energies. I know people like this and it is quite common - it is a puppy pen is what I am saying. I love this  ... your actions are so loud I can't hear a word you're saying.

Sorta like that. I might be making matters worse here, I meant no disrespect to anyone, I was speaking on general terms.

Also I don't know what this means "completion backwards principle" I'll have to look that one up.

Oh and you can buy that High C Double G dictionary/thesaurus/encyclopedia for thirty bucks! OHHHHHH!
I am just kidding around but I know people can really get touchy... me jdc. I care for people and their well being, and that is serious, but generally life is too short. ;)
