Master fader output to SPDIF

Postby Gregrb » Wed Feb 17, 2016 11:34 pm

How do you assign you main outout (as controlled by the master fader to output through th SPDIF out?

I have a Focusrite VMR Box which I want to send my output of my stereo mix from my master channel and master fader to the VMR which has a SPDIF input.

Figure 5-1 in your OS 5.1 Manual: The MASTER L/R fader concurrently supplies both the digital AES/EBU and S/PDIF outputs as well as the D/A converter for the analog Main Outs.

Hi, i have spdif cable plugged in to vrm from d8b output spdif, pro tools is connected to d8b on spdif input on d8b, when pro tools is playing levels show on d8b, tape input ch 25/26 and when master fader is turned up you get sound out of monitors and phones mix 1 & 3. But no output sound out of spdif to the focusright vrm? There must be some where i have to assign master fader output to feed to the spdif output. But how do I do this?

The stereo bus is always feeding the stereo I/O card, both the AES and spdif outputs. There is a setting for the spidf to be switched between a pro and consumer format, That is about all there is in terms of output adjustments. Have you verified that there is nothing going on with the Focusrite?

I have now got spdif sound going to vrm box (vrm had driver issue befor), but is there way to drive more spdif output leval (other than having master fader up maxed), as vrm needs more level on input to work well.

Look at the Digital I/O tab under the setup section of the GUI at the bottom of the screen. Page 67 of the manual for 5.1. Not sure how to get you more amplitude other than hit the master bus harder....
