Glitches..... resolution?

Postby arjepsen » Thu May 04, 2017 9:57 pm

Hey.
After a while, I've finaly gotten back to trying to get my d8b/HDR setup to work as I want.
I've made a drum track through Reason, and uploaded it to the HDR.
Now, the drum track should be 24 bit, 48khz.
However, when I play it back, I get glitches in the sound.
I've tried to make the HDR the master clock. (d8b got an apogee word clock).
I've tried with the d8b as master also.
Tried various ways of booting either first, and then the other.
I've cleaned the BFG connector both male and female.
I've reseated the connectors inside the d8b.
I've danced aorund both machines, chanting soothingly, yelling, screaming, slapping them with chicken filets.... :?
Still glitches.
Honestly, I'm a bit at a loss as to where the glitches originates - d8b or HDR.
Anyways, I did try to lower the HDR to 44khz.... and voila - NO GLITCHES!
But now my nice upbeat drum rhythm turned into a ballad......

Good suggestions anyone?

No, I'm quite sure it's 48khz.
If I load a track into vlc player, it reports the file as:
Codec: PCM S24 LE (s24l)
sampling: 48000 Hz

However it also states:
bit pr. sample: 32

that last part confuses me.
The drum tracks are made using Superior Drummer from toontrack.
The drum sounds in that plugin is 24 bits.
But even if I load the track in audacity and export it as 24 bit pcm, vlc reports the bitrate at 32??

Does it make sense that I get glitches at playback at 48khz, but not at 44? (even though it then plays back slower than it should).

Ok, solved the problem.

It turns out, that the HDR system gets very sad, and feels very abused, when you try to run it at 100mhz FSB.....
It's now back at 66mhz, so I'm "only" running the pentium 3 at 533 mhz..... :-)
