OPT8 Spontaneous Input Mute?

Postby bitSync » Mon Feb 21, 2011 4:51 pm

Perhaps you d8b sages have seen this one -

I thought I might be losing my mind (may still be, but another topic) as I have been certain on a number of occasions that although my Apache lightpipe routing seemed fine, sending optical signal to one of 3 OPT8 boards yielded no input activity on the tape return channel audio or meter. I eventually tried rebooting the board and lo and behold, the signal I thought should have been at the input of the OPT8 was indeed there, the OPT8 just wasn't seeing it. This doesn't happen immediately upon booting the d8b, but after some period of time running, and is wildly intermittent, I can go many sessions without seeing this. Now that I know I'm not crazy (in this regard) I'll try some other troubleshooting the next time I see it before I reboot, like routing the signal to other channels on that OPT8, or to a different OPT8. But for now, has anybody seen this and have any suggestions? Thanks!

Cuppla things.

Pull and reseat the OPT 8 cards. Power off, naturally.

Clean and reseat both ends of the ribbon cables emanating from this board:

Sounds heat related.
