yes, I have an Apogee Clock in my system set as the MASTER WORD CLOCK.
I have that clocked to my MOTU 2408 mk3 which is connected to Quad -Core Intel via MOTUs PCI-424 I/O

The silicone adhesive that I used was what was recommended in the db8 forum (Dow Corning 739)

If you still have a stock clock card, I would pop it in after the next lock up and see what happens. I have to wonder if some funky RAM might be at play as well. I would also look over the power cables inside the console, especially the one that goes from the power distribution board and the brain board. The power ribbon cables I speak of are the ones that have white/clear headers as opposed to the ribbon connectors with black headers.

I wish I had a concrete answer on this one but these are just some places I might start if I were in your shoes.

OK, will give this a shot Crash the next time it freezes on me. I assume the RAM you speak of is the computer side of the d8B and not the actual PC or Mixer itself?

Yea, the RAM is in the CPU, not the mixer. It is in a rather pain in the butt place to get too as well, right up against the wall that divides the power side from the cpu side.

OK, more work to think about next time. I will be recording all this month intensely and will make note of this the next time it freezes.

Thanks again for your help

Hi Crash

Ughhhh did it again this morning. I checked the CPU and reseated the memory but still have "no sound" on db8
Normally what I do now is , remove the cover off mixer, press down on some cables and chips all of which end up resolving the problem. I suspect it's a cable issue but all the cables are glued down so I am puzzled. I will wait to hear back before I go inside d8b

Thanks

I am not sure what to tell you at this point without being there. It seems like it could be a clock issue... If there is a way to strip it all back to a really simple setup just to test, I might consider that route. If I were in your shoes, I would take out the Apogee and put in the stock card, if you have one and see if you can get it to lock up with a stock card in there. Just run the console by itself with some input just going into the Mic/Line side of the console for simplicity. This way you might see if you can determine if it is possibly the clock card itself or cabling. The power cable from the power dist board that goes to the card cage might be worth looking over as well. Those particular power cables with the orange striping were built in house as I recall and can be prone to coming apart at the headers in some cases.

Other things to think about are the condition of the BNC cable that is hooked to your Apogee, maybe try making the d8b slave instead of Master just to see if the behavior continues that way.

Thanks Crash...I took the db8 apart, plug and reseated the cards and cables and I am back online
Still don't know what the issue is, I suspect it has to be a cable or a card l :(
