Master Out

Hey group,
Has anyone else experienced issues with the master output 1/4"?
I haven't been able to check the xlr's yet, but it seems that I am not getting signal out of them. Fortunately I was able to route to the aux sends as a quick fix. I setup a stream of a live performance w/ my 17" MBP, d8b and canon xl-h1. So I had to send line level signal, hence the not checking of xlr.

I recorded the stream if you want to check it out go here... http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/4827007

Thanks for the help, I hope you enjoy the video of Ted Ludwig at CBG Little Rock, Ar.

Thanks,

Hi Matthew:

Well the XLR and the 1/4" are in series so if the XLR's work and the 1/4" do not, I would suggest putting a 1/4" phono plug into the jack in repetition a minimum of twenty times or so vigorously when the board is powered down (or as vigorous as you might treat a d8b knowing the ribbon cable and backplane issues etc...) ... I am also quite sure, just from experience with other gear, but the schnabs show different... that there might be some normaling going on so as to not have both outputs active at the same time. the contacts might just be dirty and inserting and re-inserting the 1/4" phono plug will essentially clean the contact points (not unlike a patchbay) .

Hope this helps,

Michael

PS: Where did you do your schooling for your d8b certification? Awesome site BTW, looks like you have some cool stuff going on!

I guess it means I'm certified on a piece of gear that has been discontinued. :(
I got this when I attended audio engineering school in nashville Tn in 2000.
We spent a week or so going over all operations and configurations of the board and were tested at the end.
I think they now have a dxb certificate.

High C Double G: Thanks for your comment about the website, we spend a lot of time trying to look cool.
I found the only way to make steady money is to diversify in the industry. I'm not always in the studio... but wish I was.

Oh, I thought it meant that if you owned a d8b, you were certifiable. I know I am :D

Tom Misner obviously has a large folder full of jpegs.

A week to get certified??? Crikey, it's taken me 10 years!!! I want a certificate. I've earned it. I'll email Tom shortly.

I met Tom once, really nice guy with more knowledge than I can imagine.

I took that pic with my iphone shortly before posting it. I should have held it in front of me.
My office is full of these things. I look at them and only see the amount of $ it took for the simple piece of paper they are.
Not once have they landed me a gig. But it makes me look important :) I guess.

Yep a week and a half. We were excited about it but the Neve (from studio 301) and SSL consoles were what we REALLY wanted to learn.

I agree you have earned it. If Tom doesn't reply you could always photoshop it!

Cheers,
Matthew Carnes

So, did you get to hang out with the way cool Keith Medley, or do you just have his autograph on your certificate?
