install from cd

Hey

I'm fiddling with trying to make a cd from the three 5.1 install disk images.
So far I've managed to put all the files from those diskettes on the cd, and it boots up fine.
However, I get the error:
"can't determine media", written a couple of times, and then some timeout.

Here I'm wondering whether it's because the virtual floppy drive from the cd is larger than the usual 1,44,
or if it's because the harddrive might get a different allocation than "C", or something else...
anyone got some ideas?
