No line/mic input, but sound via tape input

We've tried each input and reseated the plugin cards. We follow the instructions in the beginning of the manual to get started and feel we're missing something. Plus the same signal into the tape inputs and we get sound. Is there a fuse perhaps we don't see?

You're obviously new to the board.
Make sure all the Line/Mic switches are up.
Go to the Setup window (Windows menu) and look for a tab under the sub menus that says "Load last session at power up". Make sure it's disabled.
Go to the dektop (bottom right hand tab on the GUI).
Whilst on the desktop, click the hard drive icon.
Search for "Startup Session" in the folders. There may be more than one. Flush them all down the toilet.
Power down the d8b.
Reboot. The d8b will make a new default Startup session.

Peter,
He says that he has sound via the Tape inputs --- I am presuming the two tape inputs directly into the monitoring section, but he says that he has no signal from the Mic/Line inputs.
Let's presume that he has only recently purchased the desk ---- does he have a clock card in the desk?
David
PS: my desk has worked perfectly for the last two days since pushing the voltage wire into the J41 plug socket --- let's hope this has solved the problem

You could be right, David. I assumed by tape input that the OP meant bank 2. So no clock card no nuttin'. Good point.

No bank 1. Neither the Michael pre nor line input produces peep.

Do us a favor jzb, just so we know where we're going.
On the rear of the d8b console, there is a slot labelled "sync" that may or may not be covered with a metal plate. If there is a metal plate, undo the thumb screws and remove said plate. In that slot, there needs to be a clock card. Could you check and let us know if there is a card inserted? Thanks.
