Aux sends out of phase

Postby Old School » Thu Oct 20, 2016 6:37 pm

Hi All,
Has anyone had trouble with the aux outs suddenly becoming out or phase? All of a sudden my aux's are a weird amount out of phase (using the phase button when I bring the signal back into the board from my outboard gear does not correct the problem). It's making all my effects and compressors sound terrible. Any thoughts?

Have a blessed day in Christ,

I don't even know how it's possible. They're single ended. There is no polarity.

Ha Mike is it on all your aux or just one or two
Also is it just your out board effect that's doing this or is it on the internal effects to

It's all the aux's, and it is also present when I use Drawmer Dynamics (fed from aux 5 and 6. I can hit the bypass button on my outboard gear and record the dry signal to another channel and when I play it back simultaneous with the original, it is obvious that the two tracks are out of phase. I have no explanation, but this is the result I'm getting.

Perhaps a software reload? Could it be a corruption of some kind?

If it is an "Out Of Phase" condition, and you are returning the signal as a balanced signal (XLR or Tip, Ring, Sleeve, through a balanced processor), the Phase button should correct. If the signal is returned un-balanced (Tip, Sleeve) then the Phase button, as Peter has pointed out, will have no effect, Weird that it would change all of a sudden when using out board gear???

If you are having difficulty internally (ie: aux send to an MFX or UFX card), then out of phase should not be possible as it is all internal of the console.

Phil has a point as well. Reload a session that you know was good and see if it still is a problem. This might help to point to the problem as well.

Post back

Cheers

Hi Bruce,
I had a session today. Everything seems back to normal, but I have not changed anything. My effects returns sounded normal and so did the compressors. I don't have a clue.

Sometimes, life is a mystery!!!

That also applies to software and Audio in general.
