external word clock sync issue.

HI Guys. I am new to this board. I am a Mackie service centre in sheffield(england) and have had a client bring in a d8b that I cannot get to lock to the external word clock (fixed everything else - now tearing my hair out - well whats left of it)
I have stripped the boards out, cleaned them, cleaned the ribbons and the connectors and tested them all. My client has brought me his DCS verona clock generator in case it was my clock generator that was faulty.
I have tried removing the termination resistor and re fitted the termination resistor on the apogee card.
Fitting a terminator to the bnc output.
We also tried his spare apogee card.
the unit is fine in internal clock mode and apparently will lock to his external source through his optical card but not through the apogee card.
So here are the questions.
1 does anyone have a copy of the apogee card schematic? (I spoke to Apogee but they said they don't give out schematics and it is an unsupported product).
2 if not does anyone know how the clock source is physically switched on the card.
3 am I just missing something so basic and obvious as a tick box somewhere.
Any help / suggestions gratefully received.
Tim
