Final Mix for the rest of us...

Postby FrankH » Sat Mar 18, 2017 12:20 am

I bumped into this yesterday. Master Mix.

A port of FinalMix to VST(PC & Mac), AU and Linux formats. I had no idea that the Tracktion people had ported this for their DAW. As someone who uses Final Mix across my D8Bs 2Mix outputs, I have gotten quite used to its interface, controls and sound quality and have often wished I could plug it across my DAW's mix outputs, as well as anywhere else within the DAW.

Three things of importance. First, it comes in 32 or 64 bit flavors. Second, they added two new wrinkles to the original: the ability to create multiple compression curve points and a high and low pass filter to the EQ panel. The third thing is it's pretty cheap...$60. Here's a comparison of the original and the Tracktion versions:

Other than flattening the GUI to match the look and feel of Tracktion, they pretty much kept everything where it was, so there's no new learning curve. They have a downloadable demo (requires creating a Tracktion account). You can check it out here.

Just thought FinalMix fans should know about this, if you didn't already.
