ok so first off im running logic 9. I used the learn feature on logic to help it learn the midi commands on my d8b. But first ets start at the d8b. you go to windows and then midi map. then you map out all your faders and mutes and solos and whatever else. after that you click learn mode in logic and say slide the fader you assigned up and down (i assigned all of mine to the tape returns) and there you have it. I find this very funny because nobody has done this and im only 15 hehehe

Very awesome! Makes me want to try getting the mapping in cubase 5 working. Have you thougt about doing a full you tube tutorial? I'd bet there would be quite a few people interested in that.

Well done for doing the map. One reason many have not bothered is that there is a resolution discrepancy between MIDI and the D8B.

There is a post on the database about this http://www.sonido-7.com/d8b/tpis.html#Post16 however I am unsure whether this is the case with HUI as well as nobody ever confirmed this. Briefly its conclusion is:

Page 93 of the d8b manual states: "Note that many of the consoles values are 8-bit resolution (255 values). Since midi conventionally sends only 128 values (two byte MSB/LSB precision is not supported by the d8b), intermediate steps will be interpolated by the d8b." There thus seems to be a discrepancy of 1 step in resolution. Midi gives 128 x 2=256, versus the d8b's 8 bit=255 step resolution. This can be confirmed by looking at the d8b's pan control which has 127 steps either side of <C>, resulting in 255 discrete steps.

So can you confirm if your Pans work okay? When you rotate fully left then turn back to centre does it go back to 0 or L1?

I had that problem until I did some trial and error. My mute buttons are my main concern as I have to click them twice and I really cant solve it yet but I just mapped out the track arming so it made my recording session so much easier the other day. It feels amazing bringing this beast from the grave and giving it the same controls as the digidesign c24 without the pricetag

I am curious how did you overcome the issue as I would love to crack this myself? Did you live with it or find a setting in Logic to deal with it?
