A sincere word of thanks

Postby anyhorizon » Mon Jan 17, 2011 1:23 am

I'd like to, again, thank Peter Holmquist (Petersueco) for hosting this last bastion of d8b knowledge. Since the other place imploded and became unbearable to use, I have spent much time here and the more time I spend, the more I appreciate its ease of use. I salute you, Peter, for having the foresight to set this up ages ago.

Many, many thanks,

Peter

Just one thing, is it possible for the URL insertion tool to come up as [URL= etc., so that a link may be described immediately instead of showing the complete address and having to edit it.

For instance, currently it works like this:

http://www.d8bforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=1056#p1056

but it would be great if it could automatically display like this:

First Post

:)

I second that. I really appreciate the answers I get and the work you guys do. I know some of my questions seem banal to old hands like yourselves. Perhaps I seem to be trying too hard to get everything perfect. I have had my board up and running for just over a year and its been a long learning curve to try to makes things work just how I want.

So a place like this is a never ending treasure trove. Thank you.

Hi guys,

My pleasure. It's nice to see all the new people joining this place.

I have to say that it was Dan Worley who, more than one year ago, suggested that some day we would need another place to get together, and that inspired me to take the extra step to set up this place.

Peter, about the way the URL insertion tool works, I must confess that my coding skills are not good enough to even try to modify the original code of the forum.

However I will do some research in the phpBB community to see if this subject has been discussed before and the possible ways to solve it.

Thank you very much for your nice words.

Peter Holmquist.

Hi Peter,

thanks for supporting this new d8b forum.
The old d8b forum has been part of my family, since I was joining it day by day.
So it´s great, to have people like you to keep the community together.

When you ever come to the german Musikmesse in Frankfurt, we have to meet.

Wow, I suggest and you do all the work. Pretty cool. In that case... I suggest you send me a million dollars. :geek:

Hey, no, you did it all, brother. And many blessings to you for it.

Peter,

I, too, would like to personally thank you for taking on this enormous task. It really is set up right. I also like the d8b questions for logging in, keeps the rats out. Mackie could (or should) learn something here about how to properly set up a great forum layout. Good job, my man!

I am new to the forum and would like to echo the other positive comments expressed here. I think Peter has done a sterling job and look forward to participating in a well organised, friendly, relaxed environment. Well done!!
And in the end.....The love you take.....Is equal to the love.....You make.
