I'm Back

Wow, I haven't been on a D8B board in what seems forever. The nice thing is that I recognize a lot of names from the old days. My son and his friend (who's a phenominal musician) are picking up on the business, so I drug out my D8B, SDR and put a whole bunch of gear back into operation after it sat for years. Overall things are working pretty well, but the D8B is acting a little quirky. One of the things that is starting to happen is that I'm not able to use the onboard controls to play and record. The timecode isn't registering, so the transport doesn't work. The controls on the SDR are working fine. Any idea of what the cause and solution may be? It's a bit of a hassle to use the controls on the SDR, but even more important is the inability to automate the mix. I'm looking forward to hearing from some of my old friends on this board.

Welcome to the forum.

I bet it's a dead battery that has defaulted the BIOS settings and therefore no MIDI activity is possible.

This article should shed some light.

After changing battery, make sure the bios IRQ 10 is set to legacy (Can't recall the letters, something like asa maybe).

I'm sure I need a new battery. I have one of the original boards and the battery has never been changed. What type battery do I need and how do I change it?
