lately i have been having problems with the audio on my d8b. It would run for about an hour into a session and then cut audio and then it would need restarted. after restart it would cut almost immediately. Also I will note that it is making a weird noise when i first turn it on for the day and it takes a couple of restarts to get it working. help!!

sounds like you need to reseat the ribbon connector coming from the PS board. There's a section in the database on loss of audio.
What's the weird noise? More details.

Also, sounds like it might be the harddrive. A bad hdd can cause it to shut down and make noises.

the noise is definitely clock noise. it sounds real glitchy and everything. and hdd is working fine cuz my system still runs its just no audio. I reseated all my cards in the back of the console and it seemed to work because I got audio for a while

looks like I will be reseating some ribbon connectors in the console itself. took a look at the database and gave me some very useful info.
