Embarassing to ask...but

Postby dnev1 » Thu Apr 28, 2011 3:01 pm

I've had to reformat a DBB hard drive and switch motherboards to get a unit to boot..but it comes up now in v3 OS. I know that the unit has plenty of plugins (as they were there before the motherboard went bad...Final mix etc) and they are in the D8B console......but now I see no plugins at all in setup.

Note on this: I went from a 3.0 cpu box (went bad)to a 1.6 cpu box and initially it wouldn't boot...till I reformatted the drive. It's not a question of liscense on the plugins...they're just not being seen at all. There's nada..zilch...you get the idea....

Imagine I'll get some looks and hopefully plenty of input with a subject header like this..but it's true! Thanks all!

You are going to have reinstall all the plug-ins if you did a hard drive reformat. The plugins live on the hard drive but the unlock codes jive with the brain board in the console.

Download and install the plugins Service Pack 3 from here. You'll have to scroll down a little bit to get to the plugins software section.

All good...knew it'd be simple (for you not me!)....now just have to see if I can find the old codes for the plugins..and then see if It's still possible to re-register!

Mackie Digital Support was quite good at sending me 'misplaced' unlock codes. You'll need the unit's ESN (Electronic Serial Number - Setup/licensing screen) and they should be able to tell you what is licenced plus send the unlock codes, if needed. As Crash wrote, you should be able to authorise them as long as the brain board (inside the desk) hooked to the CPU is unchanged.

K...that actually sounds do-able...great news. I've got the ESN of course...(and the plugins were valid till I wiped everything to reinstall)...thanks everyone! I'll let everyone know what I run into. By the way...did you use phone or online " synthjoe"?..

Online. Took a couple of days to get their response, but support was flawless! Good luck! ;)

You nailed that synthjoe....it was a piece of cake. Just give Mackie the ESN from the console/board and they shoot you an email with all the codes registered to it. This has been a long road...but looks like it's finally over.....TILL NEXT TIME!
(like the end of part one in a movie trilogy or something!)

Petersueco, Crash..Budman..Casey..synthjoe and everyone who's thrown in their 2 cents...thank you! I couldn't have gone from a dead system needing parts to finding the parts and "up and running" without everyone.
