D8B as HUI withe Pro Tools 9 002 and usb keyboard

Hi
I'm real new to this, so please excuse my ignorance.
I just got a D8B and plan to use it with my mac pro and pro tools 9 in HUI mode. I eventually want to use the D8B as an adat i/o to a REM raydat card, but thought I'd get the HUI settings all sorted first.
I've got it hooked up using midi cables to the 002 port 1 and all works great. Faders, transport, mutes, solos, pans, display and some plug-in control. My problem is when I come to use a midi keyboard (kurzweil SP2X) for programming and keys parts, I can't get it into the chain. This is because the 002 only seems to have one midi in and 3 outs. Pro tools will not see the SP2X while its in HUI mode. I've plugged the SP2X in via its USB output and now protools cant see the 002. As I'm planning to ditch the 002, will the Raydat card give me more midi in channels?
I'm sure I'm doing some basic set up config wrong, so can anyone help.

Cheers

John

Hey
I sorted it out! It was all about boot sequence. Trying to change midi settings in Pro Tools while the D8Bs HUI was on-line, not a good idea! I got the Pro Tools session set and running, then booted the D8B.......alls well with the world!

Hi John,

Welcome to the forum!

Strange because usually the d8b wants to be booted first due to word clock and sync issues. See here...

http://www.sonido-7.com/d8b/tpis.html#Post2 --- under the heading Bootup sequence.

Maybe in HUI mode this does not apply because it is not passing, creating, or receiving a word clock signal.

It is so ingrained in my head that the d8b is "king of the castle" first to be booted; habit I guess.

Thanks for the reply Michael,
I think it must be because HUI isn't passing as you say. Still not to worry, as long as I got it going. Going to try adat set up next! Fingers crossed!
