Anyone Remeber fps d8b "likes" to see?

Postby High C Double G » Sat Aug 27, 2011 10:27 am

Hey forum,

I am setting up some new equipment in my new [crappy] room - if you can call it a room sheesh... whatever, I'm miffed about it but also just moving on  . If I wrote the setting down I sure can't find it.

What does the d8b like to see as a fps setting? I can't remember if it is 24 or 25. It may seem like a silly question. I answered a post in the Mackie forum a year or two ago to that very question and that place has really been cut up something awful over there... shame, but life goes on right? I remember that with multiple machines there was drift at other settings for some reason. If anyone has a quick "it's this" that is great or I will headache the MIDI connect and reconnect nightmare that is associated with finding it.

Thanks!
Michael

I do a lot of video work and have been feeding it 30 or 29.97 for years without issues. When I'm doing strictly audio, I leave the DAW set at 30.

And back in the day when I used a pair of TASCAM DA-88's with it, 30fps worked like a charm. Never had a drift problem. ADAT issue possibly? Dunno.

Thanks Frank... I pulled the Computer out of the loop temporarily and will mess with the settings to find what works - the gear I have can receive/generate time code so I never have any issues syncing to frame, it is if the d8b will "hook-up" or not has been the issue in the past. After I find the magic number then I can set the computer to time to the system. I really should have a timepiece (like a MOTU AV or something) - just been putting that off because I have no idea which one is the best one to get, some work one way and not the other way, Computer DAW is happy with USB and that has issues so I have heard... it is pretty confusing for a guy like me, (not the sharpest tool in the shed) I got skills and good ears though... so that is good.

I will start at 30 per your suggestion. It has been 15 months since my little set up has been put back together. I have been working in other studios and finally I have my own place (sort of) up and running - a few glitches to work through but should be working pretty quick. I forget how much work this actually is! Not for wimps, that is for sure!

Thanks!
