I recently purchased a D8B version 3.0 and a MDR 24/96 version 1.3. I am connecting them via 6 AIO 8 cards and 6 tascam pin configured cables. When powered up, they will not communicate with each other. I do not have an internal clock card or apogee clock card for the D8B. I thought I read that with analog, no clock card is necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wrong connectors. Go to page 5 on Mackie's Hook-Up Guide to find out the right ones.

Without a clock card of some kind, your d8b is a boat anchor, even when communicating via analogue.

Yeah, so I discovered that tascam pinout is not the same as tascam pin configuration. Damn engineers!
So just to be sure, I have to have an internal clock card or an apogee card to be functional?? Even when running analog?!

Without a clock card (and it is recommended that you get the Apogee for higher quality sound and future expansion) the only inputs you can monitor are the 2 track ins in the monitoring section, basically, because they just come in and get routed to the stereo analog outputs.

It's a don't pass go, don't collect $200 situation. The entire mixing side of the desk requires a clock card.

I have no idea where/how you purchased the desk, but it really should have been sold with one of the clock cards (especially if was advertised as a working console), as it was initially sold with the internal card.

Have you thought about contacting the seller and asking (possibly very sternally) why it was sold without the card and that you want the card or have your money returned.

Unfortunately cards are becomming very hard to find and when they do become available they are quite expensive --- the supply and demand situation!!!!.
