Hi everyone,

a couple of weeks ago, I had a nice discussion here about the console "freaking out" with all lights flashing, the loud "80-bpm-bumping" from the speakers and so on...

Now I found out that my d8b does that right from the start, when I try to boot it again short after shutting it down.

I had to restart my pc, so I thought: Let's do this in order. First, shutdown the d8b as always, then shutdown the pc, then boot the d8b again and finally the pc... I did so, and then, right after pressing the d8b's power button the console started it's "bumping dance". What the hell? Waited 15 minutes and then it booted just fine.
I tried that same procedure in the following week and it did exactly the same.

Annoying!

Any suggestions?

I was kind of hoping that my console didn't have that damn rail cap problem, but suffered from bad wordclock or so...
Are you sure that the only reason can be the rail caps?

Check both ends of the data cable and reconnected firmly the BFC.
I know it's very basic but I have had those same symptoms and it cured it.

Hi nt,

You eluded to it in your post that you do this, but it is important to remember (for me anyway, some people say it doesn't matter) the d8b should be fully booted before introducing any clock signal to it. Hope this helps...

I've had all sorts of crazy things happen by forgetting to boot before the clock and usually I have to re-connect the BFC to put it right.

thanks for the replies. I know about the console failures when it "sees" wordclock while it's still booting.
Checked all that.
I always first boot the d8b (which is master), then my pc with the RME Card with 3 ADATS, then the rest of the analog stuff. When I boot the d8b, the pc is not even connected to a power chord yet...

@Petersueco I actually tried reconnecting the BFC once, and surprisingly it worked... But what do you mean with

Re-seat them but also check that there are no bent pins, there probably won't be if you have'nt had it off lately...I found one once!
