Hello,

Recently I unplugged my d8b without shutting it down first. When I powered it back up, I received the Error 43... Here is what I found after following the Error 43 recovery advice listed elsewhere on this forum.

1. The floppy light is always on, and destroys any disk I put into it. I replaced the floppy and now it works.

2. The Hard drive seems to have failed. I put it in a PC and it claims that it is unformatted. I replaced it with a 20Gb drive.

3. After close inspection, I noticed that the top of one of the capacitors on the motherboard was bulging open. It looks like it may have failed. Bad Motherboard?

4. So then I tried to reinstall the OS. When loading the first disk, the following is flashed briefly (I had to use a video camera to read the subliminal message):

So,
Any ideas?
Is there any one who could sell me a replacement CB50-BX motherboard for less then the $300 that Mackie is charging?
Am I missing something obvious?

Figured it out it was the all too common loose ribbon cable.

I thought I read somewhere that the General Protection Fault was an indicator of a corrupted or incorrect BIOS version load. If you can regenerate the correct version level, try a new set of disks and reload. Floppys deteriorate even just sitting around.
