Mount / Refresh Drive

Hi all;

I am having a hard time with the Mount / Refresh Drive concept. My machine freezes when I use either of these methods.

What want to be able to do is swap removable drives without shutting down and turning on again. I assume that is what Mount / Refresh meant! The manual is not really clear on what this is used for other than "updating" a current drive.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
