Postby Salrus » Sun Apr 08, 2018 2:27 am

Hi,
i am looking for a EEPROM or EEPROM Image From a HDR front panel to finish the conversion from MDR to HDR (already got the 120gb BIOS and GPU and Keyboard port)
anyone out there can sell me a preprogramed chip or give me the image and the chip type

thanks

hi, yes i have a few HDR Firmware chips, i have done a few MDR to HDR conversions now, 3 of my own and two for other people so have a few chips knocking about, can even program these so when you turn on the HDR the LCD comes up with the name of the studio or your name rather than the MACKIE HDR 24/96 logo.
PM me if you still need one.

well, you did put a sticker on it saying 1.4.... ;-b

I haven't really tested it yet, but it boots up just fine, and seems to work.
I may have to order a 120gb hd bios also.
Btw Funk, did you have a chance to try to make the d8b DSP card eeprom?

haha yea, think i must have been pi$$ed when i did that one :-)
sod the 120 bios chip i have one that will take a 160gb drive,
sorry no, not done the dsp chip yet i will get on it as soon as i can.
Just doing a band EP at mo so its all hands on deck for a short while.
for a bit of fun, i have another tracks iv done so i could pick one and put it on drop box for a mix down challange ? might be abit more fun than the other idea i had of starting a track and asking everyone to contribute to see what comes out, thinking about that, it must be hard to get an idea for a format that someone has done and already had pre idea for, if you think its a good idea for a "mix down" i could do a dedicated post for that and get going. ... oh oh hold on...we could do a poll post and and the winner could host the next track............... cool, the more i write the more i like it

Hey Funk - do you still have any of those MDR-to-HDR conversion front panel EEPROMs available? If so, would you sell me one (and how much)?

I'm finally modding/upgrading my MDR (to match my HDR), and the final piece to the puzzle I'd need, is that front panel HDR EEPROM. I already cut the hole for the AGP card and tried around with the HDR OS installed... but I get a "Control Surface not responding" error (but showing the 24 empty tracks in the background) - so, I guess it will only recognize the MDR front panel/surface once the HDR chip has been installed.

Right now, I'm running the "Small Harddrive HDR" BIOS chip from my actual HDR in my MDR. That one became available when I installed a "large harddrive HDR" BIOS chip in my HDR. I ordered a large BIOS HDR chip from "loudtechnologies" (aka Mackie) in the UK... they're only 4.50 Euro right now... I guess they're blowing out the last few they have left.

Anyway... I tried flashing the "small BIOS" with a backup of my "large BIOS" but get an error that the part numbers don't match, so it doesn't let me flash. So, I guess there's a difference that makes "home-flashing" impossible... at least those last few "large BIOS HDR" chips are cheap.

...but I'll still need that MDR-to-HDR front panel EEPROM. Can you hook me up, pretty please? :)

...actually, nevermind, Funk!

I discovered that loudtechnologies.eu still had one last new "HDR Brain Board" available in their shop for 58 Euro, that has the front panel chip in version 1.2 on it, already, so I ordered it.

Since there was only one of them left, and I couldn't be sure if you (or anybody else on this forum) still has any of these chips left, I figured I better buy that board & chip NOW!

It makes that MDR-turned-HDR a bit costly, when counting the shipping cost for those "large drive BIOS" and "HDR brain" chips/boards and the other mods I did to it (additional SATA/SSD caddy, Compact Flash in back for the OS, quieter fans, etc.)... and the 128 GB size limit for "large drive" might make it difficult to get "small enough large drives" soon, I think... but oh well.
If I ever sell it, I'll lose money on it... so I better get some use out of it until then... I might have to join a band, again, just to put that thing in the rehearsal room and record practice sessions on 24 tracks, haha ;)
