Does anyone have any experience with this SSD as an alternative to Hard Drive?

Hi Casey & Dok;

I have made the IDE to SATA to SSD work! It was no problem and works like a charm thus far. Just as Dok said!

I have not upgraded to the larger hard drives on my HDR so I was able to get 2, 32gB SSD for around $50.00 Canadian each. They are 2 1/2" so I will need to find a 2 1/2" to 3 1/2" mounting kit to hold it fast.

Getting the IDE to SATA adaptor was easy the first time around (I only purchased 1) but now it is proving to be more difficult. There is another thread in here regarding that. I have ordered some from China and we will see how that goes.

Either way the SSD works. Good news and not painful at all.

The other part I am having trouble finding is the removable caddies. The Lian Li RH 40 and RH 58. I have found RH 10 that the manufactured says are compatible with the 40's & 58's but are completely plastic and "Yoda Master" Mike Rivers suggests staying away from them! So what's a guy to do??

Hello, I´m recording to a Mackie SDR for Backup. I have tried 2 IDE to SATA Converters to a Intenso128GB SSD(Sata III):
- DIGITUS IDE TO SATA Konverter, horizontal (4016032317807) (Master and Slave)
I didn´have success with this adapter (under OSX and Win8.1 it was possible to format my SSD to FAT32)

-Manhattan SATA 300 to IDE Converter (766623158282)
Master Jumper, FAT32 Format and I have copied a Startup project to HDRProject Folder on the SSD.
I ran the SSD 30 minutes without a rest. I didn´t hear any faillure.
ExFat didn´t work.

Hi Joe;

Welcome to this forum. There a whole bunch of people with a great deal of knowledge.

Earlier in this thread there is a statement regarding SATA drives and, as it is sated, it has to be a SATA I or SATA II. SATA III is not supported.

The adaptor, according the thread, has to have Mast / Slave / Cable select, and be selected to master, although the last adaptor I purchased off ebay did not have that feature. In my first test, it appears to work just fine. Now I have not done any recording as of yet but the software recognised the drive and I was able to recall what was recorded on it.
