File import issues

Melodyne and after processing saving the audio back to the project file under a file name like "cache 3". Then I would
put the external drive back into my HDR, import those files into the project and I was able to edit and record adittional tracks as usual. Now when I do this, if I try to record a new track the HDR records for about 2 seconds and stops with the message "the playback engine was stopped" . If anyone knows what I am doing wrong please reply.
