do i need d8bbridge for the v5.1 version????

No, you don't need any special Mackie OS to run D8Bridge. D8Bridge bypasses all the controls in the D8B Computer. The D8B HUI mode only uses 8 faders total. D8Bridge: full 25 faders. More info on D8Bridge's web site.
