VU and Wordclock issue SOLVED!

Postby Phil.c » Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:45 pm

After some OS problems with my D8b, rather than trying a re-load, I decided to replace it with my spare one, so, all leads were swapped from my HDR, but there are problems.

I use a Master Wordclock which isn't being recognised, I have swapped cards but it's still the same Internal will lock but I need the master to run everything else. I have cleaned and re-seated the card a few times?

The other thing is, I have no VU's showing, I have red light from the HDR opt leads and red light coming from "Outs" of the cards, I have cleaned and re-seated the cards but with no joy.

All OPT-8 cards are recognised on bootup.

All setting are the same as the first desk, Buses etc.

This desk was working a few weeks ago with locking and vu's working...am I forgetting something here :?

Phil

(EDIT)
I have re-seated the BFC again and now the clock is locked.

I have tried the HDR light pipes into the ALT but nothing happens, I also get no mic input.

All the symptoms you listed are of a console that is looking for wordclock and not seeing it. Are you sure your issue is not the external clock itself?

Crash, I have my HDR and Logic locked, if the clock is not recognised no audio will appear on the Master VU's but the main VU's will be active, I'm not seeing any activity with any VU's, there's audio coming to the desk but not activating the VU's?

I also can't get a signal with line in?

It might be a lid off and a ribbon re-seat but i'm clutching for straws :?

When I have clock issues, I tend to get spiking audio and pegging meters, or nothing at all mic or line. You can always check the 2-track in A,B,C and see if you get audio there since they are analog returns and require no clocking. Of course look for the flashing */? in the vacuum display to verify clock as well. Other things I would look over are your light pipes to makes sure you aren't going out to out or something silly. It is possible to have a bad Apogee clock card, I had one fail.

I would even consider getting stupid simple, like a d8b, word clock and a mic. Disconnect the rest and see if you can get just a mic to make noise for you and go from there. It has to be something simple causing you grief.

I have tried most of those, but a ribbon re-seat and clean did the trick....and was a bit of a relief!
