For those with new Motherboards!

Postby Phil.c » Tue Feb 09, 2016 8:51 pm

I fitted a new motherboard to one of my d8b's about eight years ago, I have the code for v5.1 but because of this I decided to contact Mackie, this is their reply:-

"If you changed the motherboard then you will have a different ESN than you were originally licensed codes for. Unfortunately, there is no longer any way to generate new authorization codes."

My replacement MOBO is stock, but Mackie has got back to me again with a correction:-

"The motherboard in the CPU for the d8B will not change the ESN but if you change the brain board on the d8B that will effect the ESN number. The ESN number lives on the brain board of the d8B.

The Brainboard is the centre board in the D8b itself so I should be ok for a OS reload with my original D8b....unless Mackie has this wrong...again :?

Just another thing to bare in mind.

I bought my first d8b sixteen years ago and payed Mackie online for the code, it was quite expensive I recall, anyway, with my last conversation with Mackie, they have no record of the codes being purchased, I still have the code, but if it was lost, the chances of them sending it again are Ziltch!.....unless you pay again :o

Mackie have come back to me again, the licencing shows that my ESN v5.1 codes have not been sold but they have found my purchase history :D
