Picture 1 is the front. Could be the Presonus pre. Crappy tube? Bad interface connection with D8B? Who knows. Try plugging it in directly to the D8B and see if the sound improves. Don't forget to turn on 48v in the back of the board.
Try this before you stick the 1073 in between. Then try the 1073 and see if things improve or not.

Next time out, kneel in front of the amp from about 3 feet out. Close your eyes (I'm not kidding) stick your hand out in front of you (move around a bit) and position your head and hand to align with an imaginary straight line between your head and the best sound you hear. You hand will be where you place the mic.

Melodyne, huh? Have it...use it sparingly.

In the case of vocals, you should keep making alternate takes until you get good solid (and in pitch) performances and then comp 'em before ever going near Melodyne. If you're having pitch problems (as opposed to timing issues...which is something better fixed with Logic's Flex) lower your phone volume a bit and position one headphone can behind your ear, so you can hear yourself in the room. It is a known fact that listening fairly loud in both cans while recording has a tendency to fool singers into thinking they are singing flat...and so the general performance winds up slightly sharp. It's visa versa for phone volume set too low.

thanks again for the advice and I recorded some vocals with the neve preamp and i couldn't believe my ears. the sound was so warm. wish i had the money to buy one.... but anyways i personally think my voice sucks...i cant stay on pitch at all... i can here the pitch and everything i match pitch but my voice just jumps back and forth from flat to sharp and i just cant get that in between to hold....thats why I use melodyne and i had auto-tune and hated it so thats why I switched. Any advice on how to work on my vocals? thanks again

Keep practicing. Get someone in the room to act a second set of ears. Someone who will keep on you til you get good takes. Eventually you'll get where you need to go. You're 15. You'll learn. This stuff doesn't come overnight.
