Speed up the transport ?

Postby funk » Wed Nov 15, 2017 3:23 am

Hi all, I have imported a track of 16 wav files 24 bit 44 from a local studio but the HDR is playing them slow a whole tone out slow,
Am I missing something stupid here ? Any ideas anyone, ?
Is there any way to speed up the transport ?

Thinking about it, ...... if you go to a studio and record a track and on their recorder with the BPM set to 130,
and then i take the wav files and put them in the HDR which is set to 120BPM would the track play slower ?
Cheers

Hi Funk,
It seems to me that the only way this is possible would be if the studio actually gave you 48k files and you are playing them at 44.1. Don't think the bpm setting matters.

Hi Mike,
Yep your bang on.
Stupid me, i have just been talking to the guy at the studio and the files were recorded at 48k not 44.1
but when i had set the desk to 48k to try that, i then clicked on the HDR and set that to 48k but the desk had already reverted back to 44.1., so have just set the desk and HDR to 48k and hay presto all good in the hood.

Was a bit of a head scratch that as to why it would not work as you cant see from the front screen of the D8B monitor that you are in 48 or 44 like you can on the HDR.

It is a shame you cant change the speed/pitch on the HDR tho,
Cheers

Hey dudes;

Yes it would be nice to "Vari-speed" out HDR!

According to Dr. Mike Rivers, it was in the plan to do just that but the line (HDR- MDR-SDR) was dropped so no further development was done.

I always wondered if one could use a variable "word-clock" generator and have the HDR follow that! Apparently not. The tolerances of the design will not handle it. 48k and 44.1 are it! Although 96k is doable on the HDR but it reduces the number of tracks to 12.

Cheers

I still love my setup, and if I need to go high tech with something. FTP it into the daw. (Soon to be SD or CF transfer)

I wish I could get the FTP to work with my HDR.

Had it working once. It stopped and now I can't get it going again!

Looking forward to seeing if the CF works as a recording media! Let us know!

Cheers
