I've tested the MACKIE.EXE file and I can report that all the FX are now authorised. I already had v5.1 authorised and some of the Ufx effects licensed but now all the fx are authorised and working. Great work @jf_uk

It would be good to see some development of the UI on the D8B and its OS as already said getting parts for these is getting harder and harder. I have 2 MFX and 2X UFX cards but get a "communication error" on the second UFX card on the second FX channel, channel 1 works fine, I've concluded it's a fault with the card itself. I've tried pretty much everything, swapping the cards about etc. That said the Mackie is still a great board and all these years later mine is still working well.

I'd say the Mackie d8b stood time still, and nothing evolved therafter? Just an
endless stream of iPad based gimmicks, and 24/96 gold-tone toys for consumers.
Oh yeah, and software that runs games, and while you mix it's sending metadata
and what you're doing back to the mother ship for one reason or other. yawn.

There's a couple of ways, depending...

If you are using a CF card instead of a harddrive, you can just use the image I made - it already contains the hack.

If you're still using the hard drive:

Or for ex, will the Massenberg EQ work without a UFX card with this crack?

You still need the UFX card for the Massenburg EQ.

Basically, any such crack, can only remove the licensing restrictions, but you'll still need the processor that effect is being calculated with. And that processor/chip is on the add-on card (UFX or MFX). In the case of the Massenburg EQ, you'll need the UFX card - for some of the other stuff, you'll need the MFX card.

On the d8b, it isn't all just being calculated on the main computer processor or something, like it is on a modern computer with a DAW. In fact, the main processor in the rack unit does more or less nothing, when it comes to audio "processing". That's why it doesn't really matter, if you have an older, or newer rack unit with your D8B. They're just making the whole thing run, but audio processing happens on the DSP's on the boards in the console, and add-on FX cards.
