good new and bad news

Postby garrett21allen » Sun Sep 30, 2018 2:27 am

Hi everyone

I have two d8b one has v5.1 and the other one also has the hack v5.1. the d8b that had the legit v5.1 is the one that I had to get a brain card from Gary stone about two months ago and just got it in. but now it's showing the V3.0 on the front of d8b. so I decided to hook the same d8b to the d8b CPU that has been hacked and its showing V5.1. does anyone know what could be wrong or do I have to have a brain board card with the v5.1 on it? I'm asking because I don't know. but I was thinking it should have v5.1 on the brain card or the EPROM on brain card. can anyone help?
oh, I did only have the BFC and the communication cable hooked up to both would only boot up till it showed the EQ on both d8bs and while loading on both boards it showed V3.0 and V5.1 in the same place it showed the eq. thanks for any help.

Strange Joe, you're saying it shows V3 but it might be V5.1?

V5.1 has extra's like a track sheet, if yours has that then it's V5.1.

thanks for the fast response Phil

my first d8b hade v5.1 on it since it came out. but when my brain board card went bad in it I brought
a used d8b around the time the v5.1 hack came out and so I have been running the hack d8b since the hack came out. my old d8b that already had v5.1 on it has been down for over a year that had the bad brain board I just got the brain board card from Gary about two months ago and just now found time to put it in the d8b that had v5.1 already in it. so when I booted it up I was happy because it showed some sign of life witch it has not done since my d8b stopped working then as it was booting up it showed v3.0 instead of v5.1 so I hooked the d8b up to the hacked CPU and it showed v5.1. however, on both d8bs I only had the BFC and the console data cables hooked up no monitor or no apogee digital card or no effect cards. could this be why it's showing v3.0 do I need to hook everything up to get it to show v5.1. thanks for any help.

Hey.

I'm getting a bit confused by your description.
Do you have two seperate cpu units, or only one cpu unit?

If you have two cpu units, and two desks, try to name - f.ex. "Desk A", "Desk B", "cpu unit A", etc..
Then try describe clearly what happens, so there's no confusion :-)

Hi Anders

sorry for saying it the wrong way. I have two CPU units and two desks. CPU unit A and desk A are the first d8b I had with v5.1 this is the one that had a bad brain board card so I put another brain board in desk A. and it booted up but was showing v3.0. so I was thinking it was the brain board card that caused this. so I took CPU B that had the hack v5.1 and hooked it up to desk A and it showed v5.1 on the d8b A. where the four EQ show Up on the D8b. but the only thing I had hooked up was the BFC and data cables. hope this explains things a little better. I never was good at explaining things. I'm a slow learner always have been but I try. thanks for any help.

Not entirely certain what's up.
Personally I would simply install the 5.1 hacked on both systems. That ought to make things right.
