Thanks but tried direct connection to mobo with no luck. Waiting for some new adapters to come in and will continue testing. One thing I did notice with direct connection is that it wont even start to verify (stalls at 1% and reboots). At least in the carrier it will attempt the verify and just not qualify for recording.

Guess my last reply didn't take.....

I connected the CF adapter directly to the mobo and no success......verify stalls at 1 % and reboots. It used to verify with the rig in the drive carrier before I tried this, it just didn't pass toe recording test. After replacing in the carrirer the same thing happens now, that is, stalls at 1% and reboots

I'm waiting for some new adapters to come in and then I will continue testing and report back. Thanks for the intel

Hmmm...
I see four possibilities:
Problem with the cable,
problem with the card
problem in bios settings
or problem with the adapter.

What adapter are you using?
Which card?
do you have another cable you could try?
what are the settings in the bios?

I tried several cables
I tried both the 32gb Komputer bay 1066x and 32gb Lexar 800x
Adapter is a china model but same as OS model which works. I'm waiting for a new one to try
BIOS settings all good since all OS CFs work, but not sure if there is a specific setting for CF. I use all the default settings
(same as Mike Rivers Last Hard Disk Manual)

Forgot to mention that the cards are always readable through the GUI. They just won't verify for recording.

ok, I presume bios settings and cable are out of the way.
I'm not sure I understand what adapter you are using.
could you take a picture of the guts of the machine?

Another point to cover, not mentioned in the string is that, the SSD have to be either SATA I or SATA II. The newer SATA III will not work. Check what you have.

On the CF front, arepsen (Anders) has a great deal of knowledge regarding this technology and it application in the HDR/MDR/SDR and d8b world.

I have been wanting to convert my internals to CF to replace my mechanical hard drives, then the have removable to CF memory for my HDR. I hit a road block when my d8b developed some issues I have yet to resolve and am currently not up-and-running.

See attached. Got these awhile ago and can't remember from which supplier, but pretty sure it was from china. These are the same as I used for the OS in d8b, HDR and MDR with no problems. I can read them through the GUI but they won't verify for recording. All I can think of is that they are not fast enough.....32gb UDMA 7 1066x. Is it possible?

Thanks....I think the SATA type might be the issue. The drive I'm using is a 120gb SATA III. I remember that was an issue from the last time I tried to get a drive to work. If you can find a SATA 2 drive out there they want crazy money. Is there a way to convert the SATA 3 drives to SATA 2? Thanks again for your help.

Hmm... I haven't seen that adapter before, but that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work.
I believe originally somebody post that sata3 wouldn't work, although recently I remember somebody stating that it could...
Anywasy, that's the main reason that I went with CF cards instead.

Try installing the CF card image I made for the HDR on that card, and check if it will boot.
