DSP card not ready Last known state reset

Postby Old School » Thu Dec 20, 2018 7:17 am

Hi all,
My D8B has been acting up for a while now. It has been periodically, not playing back certain channels from the HDR, having channels go to full distortion upon playback attempt from the HDR, and other oddities. Usually I could just shut it down and a reboot would clear up the problem. Recently it started doing the distortion thing every time until I realized that if I pulled up a mix other than startup before turning on the HDR (I always wait until the D8B is fully booted to turn on the HDR) that there were no issues. At least until tonight when during a mixdown all of my faders went to zero but the song kept playing as if they were up. I shut down the D8B and tried a reboot but the same thing happened. I shut the D8B down again and reseated the big cable, but forgot to turn off the HDR and so when it came on seeing the clock signal from the HDR it went ballistic and all lights went full on and pan pots flashing. After I shut everything down again I turned it back on and now get the "Dsp card not ready, last known state reset" error message. Now I don't know if the first problems were OS related or if I caused damage by turning on the D8B with the HDR already on. If anyone can tell me how to proceed from here it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and have a blessed day,
Mike W.

From my experience, it's an error I get when the OS loads, but can't fully communicate with the desk.

My problems were usually around not having connected the serial cable, but I also experienced it, when only one com-port on the motherboard was connected.
It could also be a matter of ye-olde-BFC wiggle...
Lastly - I also experienced it, when I had messed up the DSP circuit board, by connecting the 16v supply incorrectly. I bought a new one on ebay. I'm still speculating whether I could salvage it with a new eeprom chip - still waiting for Funk to get back to me on that one....

Anyways, in your case, I would try the wiggle, try disconnecting and reconnecting the serial cable. Also for good measure, check the bios settings, in case the battery has gone out for lunch.
If that doesn't do it - you might need to open up the desk, and try reseating the various cables in there.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards
Anders

Thanks for the reply Anders,
I kept reseating things all to no avail, then I thought I'd change the CF card just to eliminate the possibility and thank God she booted right up! I had no clue a corrupt OS could cause these kinds of symptoms.

Have a blessed day,
