Basically i changed the RAM sticks and booted again. All was fine. Keyboard working then i entered BIOS and set it up.
Just to answer some questions...im using a ps2 keyboard and regarding cleanliness/dirt...the motherboard is very clean and the condition is very good even the components etc.

After changing the ram the video card seemed very happy however have to test further. Will keep you posted.

IS it possible that a bad ram stick can freak out the whole system ??

yes. Bad RAM, degrading GPU, anything that ages with either intensive use or atmospheric change will upset a system. the last D8B I touched needed serious work doing, some work I was able to do, other work passed to an electronics engineer to do a full rework. the machine in question was performing a number of issues including restarts, freezes, fader errors, you name it. freezes and halts were caused by the computer unit itself, customer hadn't serviced it, so full of dust. so, completely cleaned out, even had to take it to bits. full board wash using compressed air, antistatic brushes, cleaning alcohol, etc. took ram out, parked into a P3 old tower to memtest, ram fine but needed a clean. replaced fans, had to clean PSU from inside, 2 caps needed replacing as they were bulging. All PCI slots needed cleaning, controller cards, you name it. This had a spring clean like no tomorrow.. I had the d8b taken to my home rather than the customer's site to work on, so the entire rig stripped here. called a friend over who's a contracting engineer for a big electronics company, helped me go through bits I couldn't easily manage. so between us, we completely rebuilt the d8b. full recap for the rails, you name it.. the computer case was a bit tatty, so got some black enamel spray and resurfaced it. back to the client's studio, re-installed. running faster, smoother and error free. even smelled nice.
