ok here is what it is saying when I click on the path button.

unable to get the backup information because the image file does not exist or cannot be assessed
if the backup task has never been run you need to execute the backup task firstly.

Anders thank you so much for your help.

Hmmm - that doesn't make sense to me...

When you click the "path" button under the "restore" tab, you should get a window titled "open", where you can navigate to, and choose the image file.
Does the error you describe happen right when you click the path button, or when you've navigated to the file and clicked "open"?

ok, that makes more sense.
I would suggest unzipping the images again, and put the one you need on your desktop.
The program should be able to access it there.

ok now I get as far as the partition restore then it says.
the selected partition contains the image file that is being restored
so it can not be set as a destination partition. don't know what I am doing wrong.

Ok, let me try to explain:

The image file is a snapshot of my CF card, right after I installed.
This file holds all the data, and information on where on the drive each file is placed.
Some people just copies this file to the new drive - but this doesn't work. It's just a file with information that only the AOMEI program can read.
The AOMEI program "reads" the info from the image file, and then "writes" (restores) them to the place you designate.

The error message you get tells you that the image file is located the same place you are trying to write to....
Be careful here - you have to make sure, that the partition you write to, is your CF card - NOT any other place.
You don't want to accidentaly overwrite your computers hard drive. (yeah - I've done that before...)

Did you extract/unzip the files to your desktop?
You need to make sure you know exactly what drive letter your CF card has, and that the image file is located elsewhere.

When I made the guide I did try my best to be as specific as possible - I would suggest you read it through again really thoroughly. Read it and study the images step by step.

Hi Mike

its good to hear from you. and thanks for the help. you have the Mackie d8b os drive upgrade kit.
is there a way you can make me the disk with the hack 5.1 and the v3 plugins if so I will be happy to pay whatever you charge me. I just can't seem to figure it out. but if you cant it will be ok. I don't even know if that can be done.
and if you can't do it then I may need to take a trip to your studio. thanks for any help.
