Hi Anders

I changed out the CPU. and there is no change still the same. cant move volume nobs pan or solo
or move anything by hand except the channel fader. things work with the mouse and monitor as far as moving so if it's doing this with both CPU then there has to be something going on with the d8b itself I would think. also, that should mean that the fuses are ok. so I need to look for something else.

Yeah, it does sound like the problem might be in the desk.
Just to be certain, if you boot the cpu without the desk connected, it doesnt get all the way up to a working interface?

Just a shot in the dark, have you re-seated the connectors in the desk, the power ones too?

I have done this many times but the last time I did it I found that one of the power connectors was a little slack, I pushed the connector strip on the side with a screwdriver, this tightened it up and everything worked, the other problem I had was the ribbons not connecting properly on the connector block spikes, I solved this by running my thumbnail order the ribbon to lift it off the spikes then clamped it back with a pliers, it's also best to check continuity from one end of a connector to the other with a meter as sometimes it's not just the reseating that needs doing.

Hi Joe and Anders;

I have not been able to get the older motherboard in either is my CPU's to work with CF solution.

Not good news, but it saves going down that road.

Best of luck Joe.

Cheers

I once had problems with the large board on the right that has the effects controls etc on it, there's connectors that you can't get to to reseat at the top, I had to remove the board to get it working, it's not difficult, just a few screws. I'm not saying that this is your problem though.

recently i got a Used D8B, and follow all the instruction from you all to modified the HDD, Floppy driver.
The D8B came with Old Motherboard Pentium 166 (P54C).
Added 128MB ram, Floppy simulator, CF card to IDE & 4GB CF card.
work perfectly.
try to use the USB internal port for mouse and keyboard. it could not work.
