hi, all it has been a while.

I have been waiting to find me another d8b. I just got one from a guy named Matthew. I booted it up and it had version 2.0 on it I plugged a mic into channel one and got sound. so I decided to put my CF in so I could get V5.1
with all plugins. everything came up as it should and everything is working by mice and by hand. pan pot channel faders it's showing all plugins. I could never get this far with the other board and CF. however, now there is no power on any channels 1 thru 12. when I boot the d8b up it shows power on all channels it shows a green light on the 12 channels. but I cant get any power to any channel after it boots up. I remember i use to just plug a mic in bank one on any 12 channels and get a single now I cant. I thought the ribbon cables could have got loose in shipping it to me so I reset them. but still no power on the channels. does anyone have a clue to what iy might be.. thanks for any help

Hey.
Im not sure I fully understand what you wrote.
The desk was fully working with the original 2.0 OS, but not with the CF card connected?
There are several green leds on the channels - which of them are you refering to?
Do you mean that there are no lights at all on the channel strips? Are any other lights not working?
Do the interface work (keyboard mouse on the monitor, Does the desk respond to what you do there?)

We need more specific details :-)

Hi Anders

what I'm trying to say is everything is working all lights come on and I can move everything by hand and mouse
but I can't get any sound from any 12 channels with a mic. however when it's booting up at the end of booting
all the channel lights flash. I did go in and reset the cables. seems like it's not getting any power at the mic inputs.
I have always been able to just plug a mic in on bank one on any 12 channels to see if a mic work. but can't do that now
thanks, Joe Allen

I also forgot to say I did put in apogee clock card and 2 UFX cards and a stick of ram. don't think that should matter
just seems like everything is working but the mic channels. thanks for any help.

I never got that far yet to record something. I was just testing everything out before I did hook everything up
everything is working but can't get any sound out of the 12 channels. they did work or I say I hook a mic up when it showed version 2.0. but after I did the CF switch I could not get any sound from the channels.

So sound worked on 2.0.
Then you installed ram and fx cards and clock card, and after that used the cf card?

Can you try to boot from 2.0 again, to see if sound is still available there?
If so, that would mean its a software problem.

thanks, Anders

I did get sound in the 2.0 version but it was sketchy. but after supper, I will try that
I did put the same CF card in two different CPU and nether one had sound on any channels.
so you could be right. I also have a CPU with version 3.0 how about if I just try that CPU and see if I get sound.
now if I don't get sound will that mean I may have a power supply problem.

thanks Joe
