CPU Power switch

Postby Jondav1120 » Wed Oct 16, 2019 11:15 pm

Has anyone had any problems with the main power switch on the front of the cpu? Just recently picked up a non working early D8B with the 166Mhz cpu. Previous owner had bodged a new / different power supply into the cpu, not realising that the switch had burnt out. Got the switch shorted out at the moment, sorted out the power supply and all is working well.
Is the switch a known weak point? If so I'll see if I can get an uprated one to fit the hole....

Thanks

John

Hello Phil,
I have only ever come across one report of a cpu 'catching fire' (not on this forum). No idea if the power switch was to blame for this.....
I'll fit a switch with the standart rating.

Many thanks

Well, my cpu power switch has been dodgy for some time, so I've just left it on and cut the power externally instead. But it appears that some of them do grow tired. :)

I have an extra power switch that I just came across after a studio clean out. Let me know if you are interested.
