Card Cage Problem

Thanks Crash.
Perhaps a dismantle and cleaning may fix at least some of it. I have been very lucky in that way. I have never had to rip it apart and do this.
Any suggestions?

I never had to tear mine apart either though I built enough of them that it wouldn't freak me out. Luckily, if you flip it and take the bottom cover off, all the stuff you want to look at is right there.

I know this is out of left field but on occasion, bad RAM will cause these console to act in very erratic ways. I doubt that is the case here but want to mention it in case you get to a place where you think you have tried everything.

Yes to the wiggle. I even try any CPU with the same results. Thanks though. Never hurts touch all bases. BTW, did my package arrive to you? It was so long ago I forgot to check!

In regards to your problem - it does sound like it's time to try opening the bottom, and reseating the connectors.

Hey Anders;

I will check into the package and see what I can find out. I sent it mid October. I'll email you.

Took bottom off. Remove cover plate. Re-seated all cables connected to card card including power, and the other end of those cables. Put it all together same problem. Rude Solo on solid. No LED anywher including TC. LCD with EQ/Comp setting is on. No audio.
I'll remove all I/O and EFX cards and see where it stands.

Crash, I couldn't find the power cable with the orange stripe? Maybe not looking in the right placde.

Maybe he was talking about one of the cables in the cpu?
You did mention trying other cpus without any change, so like you stated, the issue is likely with the desk.
Looking over the internals of the desk - particularly the power distribution board (whith the bfc connector), does any of the capacitors have signs of decay (like the top bulging up)?

I'll open it up after I blown away the 18 inches of snow we got yesterday and last night. WOW what a pile.

I'll check fro popped caps. Thanks. It does seem like a cap fault in a PS as it looks like it is working then "poof" it's gone! (No smoke, or noise just a sound effect).

Something to consider, I'm not saying this is your problem, but I have had issues, where re-seating didn't work, it was in fact not the connectors, but the wires on the connector spikes as these can tarnish over the years, lifting them slightly off the spikes, getting some IPA in there and clamping back with a pliers is an option which has worked a few times for me, however, your problem seems a little more serious to me

So you are talking the connectors on the back side of the card cage, as apposed to the one inside the cage the card slide into? I got to tell you, it takes a lot of pressure to put those cards (I/O & EFX) into the slots. Like a lot. There's a bang. Almost seems like a misalignment.
I'll give you crimping thought some consideration. I know you have posted about it as a possible solution for a lot of difficulties.

Talking the 3 off of the power distribution board. To me the stripe is more orange than red, like the other data cables throughout the console.
