Floppy emulator problem

Postby Phil.c » Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:15 pm

I've copied about 80 or so projects to seven partitions of a memory stick, I've remixed an old project so I wanted to re-save it, I open partition one to find the original, it's not there, so I open partition 2, the D8b gives a message "in valued file, crashes, then re-boots, I've tried this three times, does anyone know what's going on?

Maybe first make a backup of the files, using the pc program to access the various partitions.

Do you mean store the files on the pc and just use the stick as an external transporter from CPU to pc?

first: just to make a backup, in case things go south with the usb stick.
Then, when you have the backup, you can try putting the files back in different partitions, and see if it can be read from there.

Strange things happening, when I open the stick there are only ten files there, everytime I try to open the Floppy program also as Administrator, it takes me to the install wizard, after I re-install, I can't open the app as it takes me back to install?

silly question:
Are you running the installation program, and not the installed program?
If you click the windows button down left, and type "usb" do you see the "USB_Floppy_manager app"?

Not a silly question at all, my fault, I was doing what you said, I still don't understand why nearly all the files had disappeared of the stick but I'll try again later with a re load.

Ok, I have another CPU working with a D8b, it has a floppy emulator, I've formatted two sticks with the USB program, and get the message "Formatted" when I put a stick in the drive I get a message "Please insert a formatted floppy"?
Any ideas anyone?

Do you give the drive a few moments to read the stick, before you try to access it?
Maybe also try changing the partition you are acessing with the buttons on the drive.
Also, try putting a file on the stick, using the program on the pc, and then see if you can access it on the d8b

I've tried the first two, there are no files on the program to add to the stick but I have all the files on my Mac, I'll load a couple of them on later.
