The first - Mp3 is a dead destructive format

In addition, mp3 - will further worsen an already poor record. Today, everyone is already downloading flack, or another lossless format. I dont use mp3, nowhere, exclude one russian social network.

The second - just listen the difference between cheap and expensive DAC`s and AD`s selfy, You will be understand real level of detail. mp3 - decoder is just delete some harmonics, to which the human ear is least sensitive and reduce the file size without recover original is possible. But it also will save level of some sound details, in case with expensive DAC. Lossless - not destructive, because its just compress the final file size, but not to delete any harmonics from there, and give You to recover original file. This - is very positive for sound. You will hear big difference!

Cheaper sound interfaces having less effective aliasing filters and more lower-quality analog and digital circuits and their binding. That's why they sound much worse.

I agree I don't listen to mp3 format anymore! mp3 sucks the soul out of music in my opinion!

Hi Spmonkay,

What happens on the console? Do you get "Error 43 - Host did not boot" on the display at the top righ of the console?

Regards

To enlarge slightly on the error that you are getting...
This is caused by a failure in the communication between the CPU and the DSP card in the console. When the console powers up both the DSP card and the Brain card boot from their onboard eproms and await communication from the CPU. The CPU boots and then initiates two serial communication channels (one for the DSP card and the other for the Brain card), once these are up the DSP and Brain cards recieve their firmware from the CPU. If either of these fail then you will get errors...failure of the DSP channel will give you the error that you are getting, while failure of the Brain card channel will result in the "Error 43 - Host did not boot" message (which is a little inaccurate, as what it actually means is "The firmware on the Brain card booted fine, but I'm not getting anything from the CPU").
As to the causes:
1. Check the serial cable is connected correctly at each end.
2. Double check the BIOS settings that relate to the serial ports.

Reards

Ok thanks! Do you mean the external cables or do I need to open the cpu or d8b?
Is this normally an easy fix or could it be bad news for me?

thanks for the advice very much appreciated!

Hi Steve,

Just to clarify, you should have two cables running from the CPU to the console:
1. A large power cable with a very substantial connector on the end that connects to the console.
2. A data cable that has a 25pin D plug / socket on each end.
The reason I ask is, I recall a friend who puchased a D8B minus the data cable....he got exactly the error you are getting.

Regards

I have 2 d plugs and the big cable! Do I need both the d plugs then? I just presumed I needed both cause it came with both!
