Mapping Midi to Cubase

Hi everybody, i searching for the MIDI map Cubase/D8B, i found some map but the D8B doesn't want to work with that "Error 18 disk full" and nothing happened when i try with Cubase.

Anybody have that please ? my interface is a M-Audio Profire lightbridge because in HUI channel i can't use the micro XLR.

Is that "Error 18" regarded the hard drive or the floppy drive?

Floppy i think, but i saw on a forum (i forgot where is it, sorry) "Error 18" coming when the map are wrong too (and when the floppy is full). How is the mapping with Protools for the Mackie ? better ? thankx

Why when i choose "World Clock" on digital IO all the bargraphs are going crazy ?

OK, now your English is confusing me. Do you mean meters when yo say 'bargraphs'?

I think you are mixing things up. First of all the Work Clock has nothing to do with the (MIDI) mapping.

If you have OSv5.1 you can use the HUI layer to interface with Protools... But I have the feeling that I'm just giving you more confusing info here...

now i would to know how i can use all the inputs of my D8B, on Cubase i have all the "Input ADAT1 - 1" to "Input ADAT4 - 8"
Ok for that but, no sound :s i add the busses (24) but still no sounds :s i don't know how can i do. Can you help me ? (when i try to record with Cubase the sync is Master it's good?)

And in the "Digital I/O" Options in the Mackie (V.5.1) i don't have Alt 1-8 it's empty, it's normal too ?

Yes - read the manual on how to set this up. Hopefully you have the French Manual.

The d8b has to be the master unless you have a Apogee Clock card (not the Apogee ADAT/TDIF input card which only has one BNC style connectors. The Apogee clock card is easily identified by its two (2) BNC style connectors. If you have this card then it can get a clock signal from another source. If you have no clock signal you have no sound - however there is a clock sync sent along with the ADAT signal but the clocks must be set correctly - again time to read the French d8b manual.

Yes this is normal if you do not have any card in the ALT slot, if you have a card in the ALT slot then it is not being recognized and there is a problem with the backplane (the thing the card plugs into, or the card itself)

That's okay I am sad too, Time to read your manual. I know that there are French speaker folks here, not sure if they are European or not but I do not speak French very well at all, and I remember very little of the language because I don't listen or speak it everyday. Believe it or not the last time I had (tried to have ) a conversation in French it was with Marlon Brando, the actor. and this was quite some time ago.

The apogee World Clock is OK the problem i have it's for recording, i got no sound input !

First : The monitors must be connect to Nearfield like i see on another topic or in sound card ? (Output)

Second : I doesn't have signal from the mic' connected in XLR phantom in Cubase. Why ? all is connected ! In Inputs & Outputs in Cubase i add 24 busses all is actives. in M-Audio configuration i choose "Internal" for the sync (if i choose "WorldClock in" it doesn't work "Unlocked"). And World Clock on D8B "Locked"
but I have signal from the meters of D8B !

Edit : I read the manual (not in French) but no solution for that in the sound card i don't have signal too !

I assume that you have OSv5.1 installed and all the cables between the CPU and the console, the video monitor, the keyboard and mouse plugged in and triple-checked.

Download the Owner Manual for this version. Take a good read at the chapter 1, starting from page 4

1) Make sure your speakers are connected to the console as it says on page 6 chapter 1.
2) Make sure you have a sound source connected to channel 1.
3) Follow this list from the Manual.

Now, to send this channel to Cubase you need to route the channel to the tape outs.

Press the Route to tape button and lit up the assign button of the channel.

You should have sound in your audio interface now.

Finally, inside Cubase you have to create VST connections.

- Go to Devices>VST Connections [F4].

- In the Input tab, start adding mono buses to your audio interface. These are the inputs in the mixer inside Cubase.

- Go to the Outputs tab and create as many output buses you need as well. These are the outputs in the mixer inside Cubase.
