D8B lightpipe out!?!

Postby Rutah » Wed May 27, 2009 6:24 am

I have now somehow disabled the light signal from the D8B to my lightbridge. I am running three apogee cards lightpiped to my Lightbridge then firewired to my PC where it then goes to cubase studio 4. I had it routed and working fine but now I must have hit the wrong option somewhere because my lightpipe activity from my D8B is inactive. I have light signal going from my PC to lightbridge to D8B to monitors but not the other way. when I open cubase all of my light channels are active but no input when I play. The audio is going into my D8B out to my monitors but is bypassing the light signal to the PC. I have not messed with any wires or rearanged my set up in any way.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks guys!

Hello Pat.

Maybe you have been struggling with the settings in the Digital I/O section.

- Press [Ctrl]+[1]. This will bring up the SetUp Window.
- Click on the Digital I/O tab.

Make sure you have your Inputs and Outputs set to ADAT for your card slots. BTW set the UV22 to OFF.

You can find more info in the Owner Manual for OS v5 on Chapter 3 - Page 67.

Cheers.

No good all is set as it should be. Maybe it has something to do with Vista.

I'm not sure to understand what you mean when you say "no input when I play". Do you mean that you can hear Cubase in the monitors but you can't record signals from the d8b?

I don't know anything about Vista so I can't help you in that matter. I'm on XP. :ugeek:

Ya... I have my monitors coming out of my D8B and I can hear audio so I am getting light signal to my D8B from my PC. I can play back audio from my PC and have it register on my D8B. But when I play audio into my D8B it registers on my meter board and I can hear in my monitors but Cubase does not get the signal and the Lightpipe input LED light does not signal. Now I had it working a week ago... I am not sure what happened.

I would reconnect all the fiber optic cables again, just to be sure. You have to make some force to connect them until it clicks. Fiber optic cables are very delicate and can break easily if you bend them too much.

Have in mind that only Output TOS-Link optical connectors lits actually up, and Input connectors don't.

Sorry Peter I am a routing idiot! I had tracks assigned to L-R not Rout to Tape. Problem solved for now. I like to push buttons faster than I like to read.... probably my downfall.

Thanks again for your responses!
