FTP And the D8B

Postby danceman » Mon Sep 19, 2011 8:43 pm

Hello to all... I have had my D8B since they were 1st launched and love it to bits... So after all these years I have finally started to think about up gradeing to V5.1. Now i Had another D8B when I was producing in the USA and it was D8B V5.1 and I really loved it so hence why I now want to move my uk d8b up to V5.1.... Now i have decided that i would like to back up the hard drive on it and i read about how to do it on www.sonnido but no joy the HTP just does not seem to work My ethernet (mac pro) says its green when connected to the d8b but when I start the software to get the drive info using Fetch and a couple of other programes nothing happens... Any One got any Ideas?... Ok another question has anyone tried just making a new copy of there drive and stick the new one back in the d8b...Would this work? or would the drive have to be formated by the D8B first? and if so can you do this by just attaching a new 30gb drive to the D8B..and then just copying... Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes it works, you just have to make sure the disk/partition boots correctly (make the partition active when FDISKing, or use FDISK /MBR, as appropriate). Ensure that hidden and system files are copied over correctly, too. It worked for me, should work for you too - if you know how to clone Win31 or Win9x. Imaging software (like Ghost) is a safer option.

Hope this helps.
