Help! Need O.S. 3 OR 5.1 floppy Install Disks

Postby D8BOSHELP » Sat Oct 15, 2011 10:06 pm

I don't have back up disks, I don't have the right computer system to create my own.

HUh? Changing the refresh rate and saving prefs doesn't wipe the OS.

This is something else. First question: What do you see on the monitor from a cold boot?

When I power up my D8B it starts up the same exact way it used to when it worked but instead of reaching the O.S. graphic 3 or 5 destination screen and boootiing the O.S. I get an error 43 on the console and it says" host did not boot". I double checked all connections including serial data cable, still nothing. Mackie Techs confirmed by me saving the preference and changing the refresh rate I wiped out the O.S. and it needed to be reinstalled. I also had to do the bios settings over. The D8B must be set at the default refresh rate to operate correctly.

P.S.
Can anyone make back up O.S. Disks for me directly from their console? I purchased Mackie version 5.1 if this helps.
I'm aware these files are available for free download on mackies website but,I don't have a windows XP PC with win zip or Mac O.S. 9 Computer with stuffit expander and a 3.5." floppy disk writer to create them.

Please e-mail me back.

This is a known issue. It's in the Database here.

Download the OS and make your own set of disks. Find some friend or computer shop and ask them to help you. And don't forget to download the Service Pack 3 too.

I don´t know, what the problem is, but I´d be willing to help you.
Do you have a possibility, to unzip files I would send you via EMail
or do you need the floppy discs?
I´m in Germany, and it would take some time to send them to you by mail,
so is it the only way, really ?
Willing to help
Best

That's really sad... However, in any good computer shop they should be able to help you for less than the amount you're offering. Maybe you can even go to an internet café, buying a pack of 3.5" floppies beforehand, in case they don't have it.
What's your location?
