Installing O.S without desk?

Hi, was wondering if I can install 5.1 on the computer without the desk being attached? I am having the computer serviced at the moment hence it is separated from the desk. Many thanks.

You can probably install it but there's not much point because you won't be able to authorize it since the CPU needs to see the Electronic Serial Number (ESN) of the console. Best to wait until the units are back together. It doesn't take long to do and it's easier to follow the prompts on the fluoro display as you install, instead of guessing.
