The new Mackie mixer

I dunno. What happens when the iPad changes size and OS? I'm growing more skeptical every day about Mackie. I could be wrong but I'm more interested in longevity these days. Not only that, I can't see all of the details on that website and I can't scroll each feature. There's a distinct lack of attention to detail over there, and I'm on a Mac. Where's that at?

I have a Yamaha LS9 mixer and mix live shows on an Ipad all the time.
It's not as easy as with a real mixer and tactile knobs, but it can work.
We'll see if Mackie gets it right or not. If it works, it looks like a good backup/2nd board for me.
I can see bands liking this a lot because they can set up do their monitors, and then hand the iPad to the least drunk girlfriend and go. No snake needed. Of course the girlfriend's mix will be as surreal as the video, featuring her boyfriend and not the guy she doesn't like, but I'll bet Mackie sells some product!

I'm a bit dissapointed as I was informed by one of the Mackie managers last year that the new mixer was going to be something special and because of the conversation that we were having at the time, I was of the opinion that the new mixer was going to be a full sized mixer --- something like the TT-24 but much better.

I was also told that they had learnt a lesson by recent past mistakes and had designed the new desk fully in-house.

We will just have to wait to see how it goes and to get Mike's summation of it and of the entire NAMM event.

The concept of a mixer being an instrument you play is gone. Such a pity. I'd like to be profane but have thought better of it. Children at the canons etc. Good luck Mackie. You'll need it. I look forward, kind of, to reading the forum that will eventually be created for this device. I foresee terrible trouble and I stay here just the same.

I dunno... I think I would dig being able to have a mobile mix position. It is an entirely different way of thinking that for sure. I don't know if I could wrap my around it or not without some time playing with it. While this is nice for the live sound folks, I sure whish they would concentrate on a studio toy of some sort...

Not one clear picture of the thing or any of its screens. And WTF is up with their "poster-boy"? Is he supposed to be a Greg Mackie clone? I can't begin to tell you how repulsive and unappealing that imagery is.

Note to Mackie Marketing Dept.: Ron Koliha you aint.

Gimme tactile... please! I've got DAWs for days that do this kinda stuff. I wanna feel the fader, not poke at it. I reckon it's a cop out. Whatever, it seems this is the future, sadly.
