OT: My Mom

Postby Dan Worley » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:56 am

Many of you here are from the other forum and had heard about my mother's long struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. Her struggle is finally over. My mom, Mae Yvonne Worley, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. She is finally free once more and with her Lord Jesus who she loves so much.

Thank you so much for your kind words and prayers over the years.

Kindest regards,

Dan Worley

So sorry to hear that, Dan but happy in another sense for her release. I hope you're OK. The memories that run can't keep up with the tears. RIP Mae Yvonne. Luv ya, mate. She musta had a good innings. My mum passed away in 1987. Still think of her everyday as I'm sure you will of Mae. xxxoooxxx

Dan,

Having had a mother-in-law who suffered the same dreadfull illness for about fifteen years until she passed away last December, I would say that your Mum is now definitely in a better place.

Don't be afraid to shed a tear, but know that we will all be thinking of you during this sad (but also joyous) period.

Joyous --- because your Mum is finally at peace.

she is in a better place. trust me there will always be something that you will see that your mom did
that will alway's stay with you. my mom has been gone for 31 years but I still go talk with her. and it may
sound crazzy to some people but til this day I can tast some of her cookings or I can hear her saying something.
and still see her doing something only the way she would do it. and that makes me happy. because we will never
forget mom ever. moms alway's doe's the best. hope your okay dan

Dan,
I'm deeply touched by your loss. My Mom's gone due to cancer, but she lost four siblings to Alzheimer's, so we're no stranger to that insidious disease. I think it's worse than cancer. You ARE a good son, and I think Garret has typed some of the most poignant words anyone could ever think of. You're due for some healing, my friend, so please allow it to begin.

Wow Dan, and only because it makes me feel better to say so I want to say that I am sorry for your loss. I don't really know anything about this because I still have both my parents.

They are elderly and are a challenge but they are still with me. A friend said to me when his dad died and I was talking to him, he said don't worry about it now, because when it happens it will suck but don't think about it now just enjoy the moments. So I am doing this. I know you did this too.

I have no experience with Alzheimer's disease so I also don't know anything about that either, but it must have been really hard to go through day in and day out.

Like Peter mentioned in the post above, the reality of her being released to the Lord and for her to be free of this fallen world, I am sure, is a welcome blessing to you and your family, and to know that she is now with our Lord and Savior in peace and in complete love and joy is a glorious event. But it still must really hurt, so my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Celebrate the life of your mom and love her always, I know you will and do.

Love you Dan. Hang in with those that love you and those you love, it is a good place to be.

Find some Peace Dan and when you do feel down,,,remember Max Ehrmann's "Desiderata" poem:

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
